Bursa Technical University Overview

Bursa Technical University (BTU) is a reputable state university that was established in 2010 in Bursa, Turkey. It holds the distinction of being the fifth technical university in the country and the second state university in Bursa. BTÜ was founded in accordance with the Law on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions and Some Laws and Decree Laws Amending it, as announced in the Official Gazette on July 21, 2010. The visionary Prof. Dr. Ali Sürmen served as the founding rector, and currently, Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar holds the position.

BTU is widely recognized for its specialization in the field of "Robots and Intelligent Systems," a distinction bestowed upon it by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). In 2020, the university attained remarkable success by ranking first in Turkey with 23 projects accepted under the prestigious "2244 Industry Doctorate Program." Moreover, BTÜ has gained prominence for its substantial investment in research and development, dedicating 18.43% of its budget to these endeavors, as outlined by YÖK criteria. Notably, the university achieved a notable feat by securing a position among the top 50 institutions in TÜBİTAK's 2021 Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index, despite being one of the youngest universities.

BTU provides a vibrant learning environment with diverse opportunities for its students. These include valuable technical visits and internships in various industries during undergraduate studies, comprehensive career planning support, cutting-edge entrepreneurship programs, collaborative educational initiatives with esteemed foreign universities, and enriching international student exchange programs. In line with its commitment to practical education, BTÜ offers the Vocational Education Program in Business Administration (İMEP), allowing students to gain hands-on experience by immersing themselves in either affiliated companies or university laboratories for a semester. The university's overarching goal is to nurture graduates equipped with practical skills that meet industry demands.

BTU was established with 6 faculties, 2 institutes, and 1 vocational school on July 21, 2010. Prof. Dr. Ali Sürmen spearheaded the university as its founding rector. Over the years, BTÜ has expanded its infrastructure to encompass multiple campuses, such as the Osmangazi and Yıldırım Campuses, boasting exceptional facilities, including state-of-the-art lecture halls, cutting-edge laboratories, and a well-stocked library. The university prides itself on its distinguished academic staff, comprising esteemed professors, associate professors, doctors, and diligent research and teaching assistants. In the 2021-2022 academic year, BTU recorded an enrollment of 8,739 students across its six faculties, one institute, and one vocational school, affirming its commitment to fostering academic excellence.
