Established in 2010 by the Turkish Religious Foundation (Türkiye Diyanet Vakfı - TDV), Istanbul 29 Mayıs University is a private institution dedicated to excellence in social studies education. Distinguished by its multilingual approach, the university boasts the highest number of foreign students in Turkey. Collaborating with the ISAM library, renowned for its extensive Middle East and Islam collection, the institution enriches its academic resources.
The university comprises three faculties: the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, and the Faculty of International Islamic and Religious Studies. The Faculty of Arts encompasses departments in History, Philosophy, Psychology, Translation and Interpretation (offering English or Arabic as majors), and Turkish Language and Literature. This faculty offers BA, MA, and even a PhD program in Ottoman history. As of the 2015-2016 academic year, teaching is conducted in both Turkish and English across departments.
The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences houses departments in Political Science and International Relations (offering BA and MA degrees), Economics, and Social Services. The teaching language varies, with English in Political Science and Economics and Turkish in Social Services.
The distinguished Faculty of International Islamic and Religious Studies offers BA, MA, and PhD programs. Renowned for its theological studies, this faculty instructs students in Turkish and Arabic.
The university's accomplishments include being granted the European Charter of Higher Education (ECHE) in 2014, and active participation in the Erasmus exchange program. Additionally, Istanbul 29 Mayıs University takes pride in its establishment of the Centre for Training and Research for Arabic Teaching, the pioneering institution in Turkey designed to facilitate Arabic learning and teaching.

He graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Theology in 1987 and later completed his master's degree in Kalam at the same institution in 1989. He obtained his doctoral degree from Marmara University Faculty of Theology in 1995 with a thesis titled "Prophethood in the Bible and the Qur'an."
