Anadolu University Overview

Anadolu University, also known as ANAU, is a state university located in Eskişehir, Turkey. It offers dual-mode education, including face-to-face and distance learning. The university's foundation is based on the Eskişehir Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences, Eskişehir State Academy of Engineering and Architecture, and Eskişehir Education Institute, all established in 1958. With the Higher Education Law of 1982, EİTİA and EDMMA were transformed into Anadolu University.

The university has a rich history starting with the establishment of the Eskişehir Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences in 1958. It became Anadolu University in 1982 and was the first university in Turkey to establish an Open Education Faculty.

Initially operating at the Yunus Emre Campus, the university's educational units located in the Meşelik and Bademlik campuses later became part of Osmangazi University. The 2 Eylül Campus, on the other hand, became the foundation of Eskişehir Technical University, established separately from Anadolu University in 2018.

The campus located in the center of Eskişehir hosts 12 faculties, including three providing open and distance education, one State Conservatory, three Vocational Schools, five Institutes (four for postgraduate and doctoral programs), and 25 Research Centers.

According to the URAP World Ranking for 2015, operated by METU, Anadolu University ranked 1273rd globally and 36th in Turkey. Additionally, in a webometric ranking conducted in July 2016, it was placed 6th among universities in Turkey and 755th among world universities. Among the top 1000 universities, four are located in Ankara, three in Istanbul, and one in Eskişehir.

Anadolu University has achieved many firsts. One of the foremost is the success in implementing distance education. Today, the total number of students in the three faculties offering distance education exceeds 2 million. The success in developing this system has become a role model for many institutions in different countries. It strives to prepare its students as the best of the future by offering programs in its departments equipped with the latest technological facilities and supported by a wide teaching staff that aims to be the best in their respective fields and shares their time with students.

Anadolu University's campuses provide almost every facility a student needs in safe and modern environments. In addition to access to over 325,000 printed sources and numerous e-resources, the central library serves students 24 hours a day, including holidays. Moreover, students are offered complimentary hot soup/tea/coffee between 12:00-01:00 at the library area. The central library, spread over an area of 12,330 m2, provides students with various study environments tailored to their preferences. Students can easily attend cultural and artistic events in our cinema, theater, concert, and exhibition halls on campus. Additionally, they can participate in conversations and activities with artists and engage in various sports activities at the semi-Olympic swimming pool, sports halls built to international standards, tennis courts, and green fields, making the most of their free time. The university also provides students with three meals a day (breakfast+lunch+dinner), including weekends.
