Alexander N. Cartwright, a distinguished US academic, currently serves as the esteemed President of the University of Central Florida situated in the vibrant city of Orlando. Prior to assuming his role at UCF, he held the position of chancellor at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, bringing with him a wealth of leadership experience. His distinguished academic journey also included the role of Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor at the State University of New York.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Cartwright was nominated as President-Elect of UCF on March 20, 2020, in a unanimous decision by the UCF Board of Trustees. His nomination received formal approval from the Florida Board of Governors on March 25, 2020, solidifying his position as a leader in higher education. Taking the reins of leadership, Cartwright officially assumed the role of acting President of UCF on April 13, 2020, succeeding the Interim President, Thad Seymour.
