Andrew D. Martin is the chancellor and professor of political science and law at Washington University in St. Louis. He is known for his contributions to judicial politics, quantitative political methodology, and applied statistics, particularly in relation to the U.S. Supreme Court. Martin grew up in Lafayette, Indiana, attending local schools such as Hershey Elementary, East Tipp Middle School, and William Henry Harrison High School. His academic interests in politics and mathematics developed during this time. He received his A.B. in mathematics and government from the College of William & Mary in 1994, and his Ph.D. in political science from Washington University in 1998. After completing his doctorate, he served as an assistant professor at the State University of New York at Stony Brook from 1998 to 2000.
