Carlos Garatea Grau, Rector of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, is a renowned scholar with a PhD in Romance Philology from the University of Munich. He's led academic planning, served as Humanities Department head, and dean of PUCP's General Studies. Notably, he's President of CINDA in Chile, Vice President of Grupo de Universidades Iberoamericanas La Rábida in Spain, and President of Red Peruana de Universidades. He's affiliated with Academia Peruana de la Lengua, Real Academia Española, and ALFAL. With around 100 articles published in various journals, he also contributes op-eds to newspapers like EL Comercio and La República.
