François Ortalo-Magné is a prominent European academic who currently serves as the dean of the London Business School since August 2017. He holds a master's degree from École d'ingénieurs de Purpan and earned a PhD in Economics from the University of Minnesota in 1995. Prior to his current role, Ortalo-Magné held a professorship at the London School of Economics until 2001. He then became the Robert E. Wangard Professor of Real Estate and the chair of the Department of Real Estate and Urban Economics at the Wisconsin School of Business. In 2011, he assumed the position of Albert O. Nicholas dean at the same institution. François Ortalo-Magné is renowned for his expertise in urban economics and has contributed extensively to academic research through publications in reputable journals like The Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Urban Economics, Review of Economic Dynamics, International Economic Review, and The American Economic Review.
