Holger Hanselka, a German mechanical engineer and university professor, has been the President of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) since October 2013. Recently, on May 25, 2023, he was elected as the 11th President of the prestigious Fraunhofer Society. Hanselka studied mechanical engineering at the Clausthal University of Technology and began his career at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). He later held positions at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and the Technical University of Darmstadt, where he served as the head of various departments and the director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability. In October 2013, Hanselka assumed the presidency of KIT and was reconfirmed in office in 2018. He also holds the position of Vice President for the Energy Research Division at the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres. Hanselka is a distinguished member of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (Acatech).
