James Purnell is the President and Vice-Chancellor of UAL, bringing extensive experience in the creative industries, public policy, and the digital landscape. He previously worked at the BBC as Head of Corporate Planning and later as Director of Strategy and Digital. James served as a Member of Parliament and held the positions of Secretary of State for Culture and Work and Pensions. His involvement in the arts includes commissioning the McMaster Review and serving on the boards of the National Theatre, Young Vic, and BFI. With a passion for creativity, he produced the award-winning documentary "One Mile Away" and launched BBC Sounds, making him a prominent figure in the field of culture and education.
