Jayathi Y. Murthy, a prominent figure in higher education engineering, has taken on the role of Oregon State University's 16th president as of September 9, 2022. With a focus on enhancing college accessibility, promoting student success and inclusive excellence, expanding research endeavors, and supporting faculty excellence, President Murthy aims to lead OSU to new heights. Prior to her appointment at OSU, she served as the Ronald and Valerie Sugar Dean at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science, where she prioritized expanding access to engineering education, fostering relationships with community colleges, increasing outreach to underrepresented groups, and establishing programs to support women in engineering.
