Jean Marc Broto Overview

Jean-Marc Broto, President of Université Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier, has been teaching Physics at the University since 1990. He's a well-respected professor who has taught at various academic levels. His research mainly revolves around understanding the behavior of matter in strong magnetic fields and studying its electronic and magnetic properties.

From 2007 to 2012, he played a significant role in establishing the Faculty of Science and Engineering (Faculté Sciences et Ingénierie – FSI) as the Director of the Physics, Chemistry, and Automation Training and Research Department (PCA). He later served as the Director of FSI from 2012 to 2016. Jean-Marc Broto also took on the responsibilities of the president of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) network of French-speaking Science Faculty Deans (CIRUISEF) since 2016, where he is involved in a project to enhance experimental licenses in West Africa.

Additionally, he serves as the Vice Dean for the Sino-French Institute for Materials Engineering at North Eastern University in Shenyang, China, and Université Toulouse 3 since 2018. This institute focuses on fostering academic collaborations between France and China in the field of materials engineering.

At Université Toulouse III, where he has been the President since 1990, Jean-Marc Broto has contributed significantly to the development and advancement of the Physics department. His leadership and expertise have been instrumental in the growth and success of the university's scientific community. He holds a Doctorate in Physics from Université Paul Sabatier Toulouse III, where he completed his studies in the early 1980s. He also obtained an Engineer's degree in Physics from the Institut national des Sciences appliquées de Toulouse in the late 1970s.
