Jere Wade Morehead, born on November 25, 1956, currently serves as the 22nd President of the University of Georgia. Prior to assuming this esteemed role, he was the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at the university. Morehead also holds the position of Josiah Meigs Professor of Legal Studies at the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business.
Hailing from Lakeland, Florida, Jere Morehead relocated to Atlanta during his teenage years. His academic journey commenced at Georgia State University in 1973 when he was just 16 years old. Graduating with distinction from Omicron Delta Kappa, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977. Furthering his academic pursuits, Morehead attended the University of Georgia School of Law, attaining a Juris Doctor degree in 1980 at the age of 23.
