Eugene, Oregon - March 13, 2023: The University of Oregon's Board of Trustees has appointed John Karl Scholz, a distinguished economist and current provost at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as the 19th president of the university. His term will commence on July 1, 2023. After an extensive global search lasting six months, Scholz was unanimously chosen by the trustees. The selection process was facilitated by a 22-member presidential search committee, inclusive of trustees, students, faculty, staff, academic and administrative leaders, along with representatives from higher education and the wider community.
