Kent Syverud is the current Chancellor and President of Syracuse University, having been appointed by the University's Board of Trustees in September 2013. He officially assumed his leadership role in January 2014, making him the 12th leader of the institution since its establishment in 1870. Prior to joining Syracuse University, Chancellor Syverud held significant positions at Washington University in St. Louis and Vanderbilt Law School. At Washington University, he served as Dean and Ethan A.H. Shepley Distinguished University Professor from 2006, during which he spearheaded the creation of university-wide programs in collaboration with prestigious institutions like the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C., and the Olin School in New York.
