Matteo Lorito, rector of University of Naples Federico II is a distinguished figure in the field of biology. He completed his graduation in Biology with honors in 1988 at the University of Siena. His academic journey led him to earn a Ph.D. at the same institution, specializing in Genetics and Plant Biology.

He didn't stop there; in 1989, Matteo Lorito embarked on a journey of research, becoming a fellow at the CNR Center for the Study of Biological Fighting Techniques. He concurrently worked as a researcher associated with the CNR Institute for the Sustainable Protection of Plants.
