Michael Hoch Overview

Michael Hoch, a distinguished academic, pursued his studies in Biology as a scholarship recipient of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes in Heidelberg and Paris from 1983 to 1989. He obtained his doctorate degree in 1992 from the University of Munich, focusing on molecular investigations related to the regulation of the segmentation gene Krüppel in Drosophila melanogaster. In 1996, he achieved Venia legendi (authorization to teach) at the Technical University of Braunschweig. Prior to that, he served as a postdoctoral researcher and group leader at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen from 1992 to 1998. Since 1999, he has been a professor of Molecular Developmental Biology at the University of Bonn. Additionally, he held the position of founding director at the LIMES Institute of the University of Bonn from 2006 to 2015. In May 2015, he assumed the esteemed role of the 143rd Rector of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn.
