Reginald DesRoches, an accomplished American civil engineer, currently serves as the president of Rice University since July 1, 2022. Prior to this role, he was the provost of Rice from 2020 to 2022. He has an impressive academic background, having been the dean of engineering at Rice's school of engineering from 2017 and held the Karen and John Huff Chair at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2012 to 2017. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, DesRoches completed his high school education in New York City. He pursued his higher education at the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a doctorate in structural engineering in 1998.
