Renu Khator, a distinguished academic leader, holds the positions of the thirteenth president of the University of Houston (UH) and the fifth chancellor of the University of Houston System (UH System). Notably, she is the first female chancellor in Texas and the pioneering Indian immigrant to steer a comprehensive research university in the U.S. Khator's academic journey includes earning a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Kanpur University and pursuing advanced studies at Purdue University, culminating in a Master of Arts and a Doctor of Philosophy in political science and public administration.
Khator's illustrious career began in 1985 when she joined the University of South Florida. Over 22 years, she held several significant roles, ultimately serving as provost and senior vice president. This extensive experience in academia paved the way for her transformative leadership at the University of Houston.
