Satish K. Tripathi is an accomplished Indian-American scholar, a computer science expert, and an esteemed academic leader. He holds the distinction of being the first foreign-born president of the University at Buffalo (UB), which is the flagship institution within the State University of New York (SUNY) system. Before assuming this role, he held the position of provost at UB from 2004 to 2011. His prior experiences include serving as the dean of the Bourns College of Engineering at the University of California, Riverside, from 1997 to 2004.
Tripathi's upbringing in Patna, India, shaped his academic journey. He excelled at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), graduating as the top student in his class. His educational achievements also encompass a doctorate in computer science from the University of Toronto, along with three master's degrees— one in computer science from the University of Toronto, and two in statistics from the University of Alberta and BHU.
