Taylor R. Randall, an accomplished educator and leader, was appointed as the 17th president of the University of Utah in August 2021 by the Utah Board of Higher Education. With over 20 years of experience at the university, including as a dean and accounting professor, he brings a deep understanding of the institution. Notably, he is the first alumnus since 1973 to hold the position of president. President Randall has set forth an ambitious vision for the University of Utah, aiming to propel it to the ranks of the top 10 public universities while making a significant impact on society. His strategic plan focuses on three key objectives: transforming the student experience to inspire a new generation, driving innovation and groundbreaking discoveries, and positively affecting the lives of all Utah residents, which number over 3.3 million. To achieve these goals, President Randall aims to increase enrollment to 40,000 students and secure $1 billion in annual research funding.
