Thomas Frank Hofmann is a renowned German food chemist and the current President of Technische Universität München (TUM). He completed his Abitur at Meranier-Gymnasium Lichtenfels in 1987 and pursued a degree in food chemistry at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. After earning his doctorate in natural sciences from TUM in 1995, he went on to become a prominent figure in the field, holding various positions such as Professor and Managing Director at different universities and research institutions. In 2019, Hofmann was elected as the President of TUM, a position he has been serving in since then.
