Wendy Wintersteen is an accomplished academic administrator who currently holds the position of the 16th President of Iowa State University. She has a strong background in entomology and crop protection, having received her bachelor's degree from Kansas State University and her Ph.D. from Iowa State University. Wintersteen began her career at Iowa State University Extension and played a significant role in integrated pest management. Throughout her career, Wintersteen has held various leadership positions, including director of the National Pesticide Education Program and professor of entomology at Iowa State University. She has also served as the dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, becoming the first endowed dean at Iowa State. In 2017, Wintersteen made history as the first woman to be appointed as the President of Iowa State University.
