Zully Concepción Vera Galván, a pioneer, became the first female rector at the National University of Asunción (UNA) in 129 years. With a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, she boasts 27 years of teaching experience at UNA, including as dean and professor. Notably, she directed Pharmaceutical Education for the Americas' Forum (2011-2016) and researched "Rational Drug Use" and "Pharmacovigilance." Elected in 2019 with 43 out of 59 votes, she shatters the institution's male-dominated history, coinciding with UNA's 130th anniversary.
