The foundations of Bezmiâlem Foundation University were laid in 1845 by Bezmiâlem Valide Sultan, the wife of Sultan II. Mahmud. It possessed the distinction of being the most modern, well-equipped institution of its time, offering healthcare and education services on par with the Western world. From its inception, Bezmiâlem has continuously provided healthcare services, and in 2010, it transformed into a university, carrying its accumulated knowledge into the academic realm.

Operating under the auspices of the General Directorate of Foundations, Bezmiâlem Foundation University, with its 700 esteemed academicians, has gained recognition both nationally and internationally. It serves over 3,200 students in faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health Sciences, and the School of Health Services.

Within the institution, Turkey's first Phytotherapy Center, facilitating the use and research of plant-based treatments, finds its home. Additionally, the university features Turkey's pioneering and comprehensive OSCE Examination Halls and Skill Laboratories, enabling students to practice on scenario-based mannequins before encountering real patients.

The university stands out with a student-to-faculty ratio of approximately 5 to 1. With two hospitals and supplementary facilities, Bezmiâlem Foundation University creates an ideal educational environment by providing ample practical experience opportunities with a diverse range of patients.
