thumb_up Im studying in Arel University as a computer engineering student for three years now. There are three campuses around Istanbul and the campus i study is in Tepekent which is far away from the central locations. This situation has both positive and negative sides. If you like to have fun after school hours this campus is not the best option because the shuttles take around 40 minutes to reach the nearest public transport which is the metrobus. But as a positive side there are no distracting sounds like traffic and the campus is surrounded with trees and parks.
When i mention about Arel the common responses that people give differs between three options. First one is that they do not know which university it is or even where it is(which is the most common response) The second one is they lool at you contemptuously (because it is a private university mostly) and the third one is they heard about the university but never seen anybody that actually studies there. But besides all of this i can say (for my faculty at least) the teachers are capable and %80 of them are actually really good both in study hours and after hours and you can definitely find them if you’re looking for them.
The labratories and classrooms are beyond my expectations and the school generally has plenty of activities you can do around the campus such as a basketball court, a gym, theatre hall, full on podcast and radio broadcast room, a music studio, a semi olympic pool and lots of grass that you can simply sit and talk to your friends but as i said it is far from the city so the only places that you can get some drinks or have something to eat is in the campus which has a cafeteria a fast food restaurant a starbucks and another coffee shop which is much more expensive then a normal cafe.
To summarize it up; Campus life is ok enough, teachers are accesible, friendly, wise and capable for their subjects, Accomodation is ok there are few dorms around the campus but i recommend staying in beylikdüzü because it is hard to attain to dorms after 5pm, Studying fees are bit expensive, But overall i give the school, the education, campus etc, a solid 6/10 after all things considered not too bad not perfect but it is above average.
