Osmangazi University Overview

Eskişehir Osmangazi University has its roots in the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Engineering-Architecture, and Faculty of Science-Literature in Eskişehir in 1970, which marked the beginning of university life in the city.

In August 18, 1993, with the issuance of Decree Law No. 496, a new university named Osmangazi University was established in Eskişehir. The Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Engineering-Architecture, and Faculty of Science-Literature, as well as the Health Services and Eskişehir Health Services Vocational Schools under Anadolu University, and the Institutes of Science, Metallurgy, and Health Sciences, along with the newly established Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and Institute of Social Sciences, became affiliated with this university. In 1994, Sivrihisar Vocational School joined, followed by the Faculties of Agriculture and Theology in 1995, Eskişehir Health School (transformed into the Faculty of Health Sciences in 2015) in 1996, and the Faculty of Education in 1998.

In 2005, the university's name was changed to Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ), and it further expanded its academic offerings. The Tourism and Hotel Management Vocational School (converted into the Faculty of Tourism in 2013), Mahmudiye Vocational School, and State Conservatory joined in 2007. The Faculty of Dentistry was established in 2008, followed by the Faculty of Art and Design in 2009, and the Eskişehir Vocational School and Institute of Education Sciences in 2010. In 2022, the Faculty of Science-Literature split into the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

As of the 2022-2023 academic year, Eskişehir Osmangazi University comprises 13 faculties, 1 State Conservatory, 4 Vocational Schools, and 4 Institutes, with a total of 30,100 students enrolled, including 933 doctoral, 2,913 master's, 23,298 undergraduate, and 2,956 associate degree students.
