Ibn Haldun University, established under the auspices of the Turkey Youth and Education Service Foundation (TÜRGEV), stands as a distinctive foundation university with legal public entity status in Turkey.
Driven by an unwavering dedication to providing top-tier education and spearheading impactful research endeavors, Ibn Haldun University aspires to carve out a distinctive niche for itself as a renowned "research university," not only within Turkey but also on the global educational panorama. Conceived and brought to life by TÜRGEV, this institution began its educational journey in 2015, formally launching its academic operations during the 2017-2018 academic year. The university's educational activities span three distinct campuses: the historic Fatih-Süleymaniye Campus, the Bakırköy-Taş Mektep Campus, and the majestic Başakşehir-Ibn Haldun University Campus, a grand architectural tribute to Ottoman madrasa design, which was inaugurated with great pomp in October 2020.

The university's commitment to academic excellence has led to impressive rankings on both the h-index and i10-index scales. According to the AD Scientific Index, Ibn Haldun University boasts a global h-index ranking of 3,875 out of 21,615 universities, securing a noteworthy 1,421st position among 4,174 European universities. Domestically, the university ranks prominently at 88th place out of 282 universities in Turkey. Similarly, in the i10-index, the university shines on the global stage, securing the 97th position worldwide, the 1,534th spot in Europe, and the 97th rank nationally.
Embracing a diverse and globally-oriented academic environment, Ibn Haldun University boasts a vibrant student community comprising 1,203 Turkish students and 639 international scholars from an impressive array of 82 countries, as of January 2023. To facilitate a seamless transition for international students, the university provides preparatory Turkish language courses. Noteworthy is the fact that over half of the student body, totaling 1,036 students, is actively pursuing postgraduate studies, with a strategic vision that foresees 75% of the student population engaging in postgraduate (master's and doctoral) programs in the near future.

Atilla Arkan, a graduate of Marmara Faculty of Theology (1991), obtained his doctoral degree in Islamic Philosophy from Marmara University in 1999, and pursued a second doctoral study at the International Islamic University Malaysia (1996-1999).
