Enrico Patrono Overview

Enrico Patrono is a highly experienced Research Assistant specializing in neurophysiology and neurobiology of psychiatric disorders. He holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of L'Aquila, Italy, and the Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. Additionally, he obtained an M.Sc. in Experimental Neuropsychology from the Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, and a B.Sc. in General Biology from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic.

Dr. Patrono has a rich academic and multicultural background, having conducted research and taught in various countries, including Brazil, Spain, Japan, and the Czech Republic. His research expertise lies in "in vivo" optogenetics, "in vitro" opto-electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, and molecular genetics approaches.

Currently, he serves as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the Institute of Physiology, Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic. His research focuses on exploring the role of frontotemporal cross-talk in cognitive coordination and flexibility deficits in schizophrenia using an optogenetic approach.

Dr. Patrono's impressive academic journey includes research experiences at the University of Toyama, Japan, where he studied the role of intragastric self-administration of flavors on striatal neuronal activity. He also received a JSPS Overseas Research Fellowship, investigating the "gut-brain dopamine axis" hypotheses.

His prior roles as a Research Fellow at Fondazione Santa Lucia in Rome, Italy, and the University of L'Aquila further enriched his knowledge in the fields of psychobiology of addiction, neurobiology of eating disorders, and behavioral analysis techniques.

Throughout his career, Dr. Patrono has received recognition for his achievements, including the International InternShip in Pharmaceutical Industries funded by the LLP-European Leonardo da Vinci Fund International InternShip. He is fluent in English, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese, which facilitates his global collaborations and academic contributions.
