Metin Tolan, a German-Turkish physicist and science cabaret performer, was elected as the President of Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in 2021. Born in 1965 in Oldenburg in Holstein, he studied physics and mathematics at Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel, completing his doctorate in X-ray scattering in 1993. Tolan gained international research experience before obtaining his habilitation in 1998. He became a professor at the Technical University of Dortmund and held the Chair of Experimental Physics I. In January 2021, he assumed his role as the President of Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, showcasing his unique blend of scientific expertise and captivating entertainment skills.
