Former Chilean Minister of Mining (2008-2010) under President Michelle Bachelet, overseeing state-owned mining enterprises. Led Cochilco, overseeing state copper mining. In academia, roles include Director of Mining Development Program and Mining School at Universidad Central de Chile. Conducted research on community relations in mining. Became Vice Chancellor for Institutional Development and, in 2015, assumed Rectorship. Renowned speaker on mining, presenting globally.
